Meet ElanRail, a railway technology company
Our mission is to make railways more reliable for rail traffic, and safer for wildlife. Created in 2025, we develop dynamic wildlife collision prevention systems, drawing on decades of engineering heritage in detection and safety.
Our parent company, ElanCity, is a French industrial SME; its intelligent road-safety systems have run for 20 years across 50 countries, with more than 60,000 units deployed.
That industrial backbone is what lets us design, manufacture and deploy Blue Sentinel ourselves, Made in France. Co-developed with SNCF Réseau on the national network, we’re now built to equip rail infrastructure managers and operators across Europe.
Blue Sentinel: a dynamic wildlife collision prevention system
Blue Sentinel is a solar-powered network of connected alert beacons installed lineside. It detects an approaching train and triggers them, using light and sound alerts to deter wildlife from the track as it passes, without causing panic or disrupting rail traffic.
It's a cost-effective alternative to fencing, and a complement to it where needed: rail reliability without fragmenting ecological corridors.
Field-tested on France's national network
Co-developed with SNCF Réseau, France's infrastructure manager, Blue Sentinel is now deployed across six regions.

How Blue Sentinel works
Detect the train:
A detection beacon tracks the approaching train and measures its speed.
Trigger the alert:
Alert beacons activate automatically, one by one, along the protected zone ahead of the train.
Deter wildlife:
Light and sound alerts move animals off the track as the train passes, without causing panic. The rest of the time, about 98% of it, wildlife crosses freely.
